We have a new to us 2016 AR240. It came with the deluxe premium cover. I really like the cover and it is in great shape, no holes, very little stitching coming loose. But, it leaks like a sieve, even after getting a full gallon of 303 waterproofing applied to it. Water beads up and runs off, but in anything more than a drizzle of rain, water makes its way through the cover. After a heavy rain, the inside of the boat is as wet as it would be without a cover on it at all. Then, the cover holds in the moisture.

Is there any way to waterproof this cover? Or is it just time for a new one since it's 10 years old?

The 303 waterproofing stuff made the cover itself stay dry. Water gets through the fabric without wetting the fabric itself. I guess the cover is just old and stretched enough that the fabric weave is loose enough to let water through.

I'm just trying to make sure buying a new cover is necessary before dropping $800 or more on a new one.

If I do get a new cover, are there better options than the Yamaha one? I'd like one that covers the whole side of the boat. I'd also like a light color to keep the temps in the boat lower. It gets so hot under the cover that you can't touch metal surfaces. I'm concerned about the connext unit getting cooked in the heat.

If you got 10 years out of that cover then you got your money's worth. If you waterproofed it with 303 this year and it still leaks then there is nothing you can do to that cover. Just buy a new one

That's kinda what I figured. I could take this cover and make side skirts out of it to use with the new cover.

I have black side covers that are made out of sunbrella. They keep the sides hull from getting exposed to the sun
