242 LSE Drive Control Error - No Start

In case anyone has a similar problem, it turns out there was a problem with the engine wiring harness. One of the coilpack wires was broken at the crimp connector inside the plug. The wire insulation was intact, so it wasn't obvious until the crimp connector fell off the wire. One of the 20A...

242 LSE Drive Control Error - No Start

@HELP Houseboating on Shasta Lake and having some issues with my 2016 242 LSE History: Boat has 120 hours, regular maintenance. Intermittent Connext ERR GPS speed issue for the last two seasons, finally fixed when dealer replaced port side tach last week. Two weeks ago, after floating for a...

    CONNEXT "ERR" messager....AGAIN!!!

I've had the GPS antenna replaced twice as well, with the same result. This week the tachometer (port, I believe) is being replaced. Based on what others have reported, I'm hopeful that will do the trick.

    242x Yamaha swivel racks ?

I have the Monster racks as well, you just need to fuss with it a bit to even out the gaps. Just be careful to check the angle and alignment the first time you swing the rack in, as it will chip the finish on the tower if it hits.

    CONNEXT "ERR" messager....AGAIN!!!

Apparently I spoke too soon. The ERR message was absent and speed control worked perfectly the first two times I had the boat out on our home lake after the repair. Then I trailered the boat 350 miles down to Shasta for a week on the water. As soon as I launched the ERR message was back, and...

    New project, 13' tunnel hull

That will be a fun project! A 60 Merc sounds just about right. When I was in junior high I had a 10' 1969 GW Invader, just like this one (but not nearly as nice, pic stolen from someone that spent a lot of time on theirs): I had the same outboard too, a 28HP Evinrude short shaft. It was a...

    CONNEXT "ERR" messager....AGAIN!!!

Replacing the GPS antenna puck seems to have done the trick.

2016 242 LSE Solar Panels Inop

Just to clarify, were you checking at the j-box on top of the tower between the panels, or the connectors on each side of the tower? The connector on the port side of the tower is the paralleled (combined) output of both panels. I don't recall what the connector on starboard side is, but I think...

2016 242 LSE Solar Panels Inop

The wiring from the panels runs through the tower on the port side down to the batteries. The easiest place to test is at the connector that is visible where the wire goes through the tower. If you see voltage there, you know that at least one of the panels is working. The most thorough test is...

2016 242 LSE Solar Panels Inop

That Fluke has served me well for the last fifteen years or so. I shudder at the thought of having to replace it though. Specs on the panels are here, looks like they can be had for $180 ea. I kept the batteries on a tender this winter, and so far so good, even without the panels working.

2016 242 LSE Solar Panels Inop

Sorry, I meant to update this thread. The dealer confirmed that the panels were bad, and ordered replacements (as well as parts to fix the speed ERR message). The replacements arrived while we were on our annual Maine trip in August, so I decided to wait until I was done with the boat for the...

    CONNEXT "ERR" messager....AGAIN!!!

I have the ERR issue on my 2016 LSE as well. The dealer has parts on order to resolve it, I believe he said the GPS receiver. I don't get an alarm, just the ERR message in the speed display. For normal cruising it isn't a big deal, but when using speed control the engines cut out momentarily...

    Shasta Lake California

We spent five days on a houseboat at Shasta last week and are already making plans to repeat next summer. The lake is huge - we managed to explore about half of it. Lots of great coves to anchor and float in, and we didn't have any trouble finding quiet arms that were great for boarding. It was...

Enjoy the new boat, that looks like a nice setup.

    Oregon / Washington Yamaha meetup

The ramp and parking situation at Green Peter is pretty bad. Sometimes it's worth it to drive all the way up to the gravel ramp at Quartzville. I really like GP, but on the weekends we often end up on Foster just because it is so easy to get on and off the water. I'm hoping the water level...

    Oregon / Washington Yamaha meetup

Yes, probably was. I was too busy checking out the boat to notice the truck, though! We'll be on Green Peter on August 5th for certain, as we're camping at the Quartzville group site. It's a great setup, and as long as the water doesn't drop too much we anchor right at the campsite.

    Oregon / Washington Yamaha meetup

We're just outside of Lebanon, and hit Foster and Green Peter pretty regularly. Headed down to Shasta this weekend, though. I saw two Yamahas headed north through Lebanon around 7 or so last night, any of you by chance?

2016 242 LSE Solar Panels Inop

We bought our 16 242 LSE new in early 2017, and had it on the water nearly every week last summer. Much of the time was spent floating, as by the end of the season it had just shy of 60 hours on it. Other than the Connext ERR issue, losing a couple bolts from the trailer fenders and a cupholder...

    Show us your tow rigs!

About halfway home from a 1200 mile trip with the boat in tow, the bride turned to me and asked if maybe we needed a more powerful truck. Yes, dear, we sure do. As luck would have it, the local dealer had this on order and it was delivered the week we returned from our trip.
