The family and I have been checking out a few 255XDs lately. Sold a couple of our other boats to make way for a new one. Question for current owners and others that have bought recently, what are some common issues to keep an eye out for? Major or minor issues.

I’ve noticed so far:
Passenger side storage locker door does not close nicely and the top hits and rubs while there’s still a gap at the bottom.

Captains chairs are a bit clunky. They don’t feel tight and are cumbersome to swivel.

Misaligned/not straight marine mat install.

Rigging not the greatest, lots of wires just ran here and there. Somewhat to be expected for a high volume production boat and is fixable.

What else?

I haven't noticed any of those items on mine. The only issue I have had is that neutral isn't exactly neutral. There is a slight bias towards reverse. I've been enjoying the boat too much to take it in and get it adjusted. It's a bit of a pain since when docking, I tend to bump puffs of power by going between forward and neutral, and it requires that you reverse steering when going back and forth to keep the same heading. The service manual is a bit cryptic on the topic (because of the computer control, it isn't a simple matter of just adjusting bucket position) but I'll get it sorted at some point. I didn't notice it on my sea trial, but you might check it on your sea trial in case it's an issue. There are a couple of others here on the forum that have noticed the same thing.

Other than that, fit, finish, deck mats, latches and wiring are all great on my example. Captain chairs are what they are by design. They are cumbersome to swivel, but mine are tight at least.

The captains chairs most likely were never lubed properly. Once the mechanism is cleaned and lubed they will be much better i am sure. Mine were crappy when new but after addressing them properly they have been great since

Great. Good to hear. Figured it was something that could be fixed with some TLC
