Just bought my first boat. '14 AR192 and the family is amped for spring. The boat has 100 hours on it and I'm looking for your wisdom on the 100 hour service that the manual is calling out. What say you?
Congratulations! I just finished up my first summer as a new jet boater (or any kind of boater for that matter) and it was awesome. I'm beside myself waiting for the ice to clear on the lakes here and that will be at least three more months! Roughly where will you be boating?
Sorry no one has responded to your question. I'm approaching 100 hours myself. Did you buy your boat from a private party or from a dealer? Are you a handy guy who wants to do some or most of the work or will you have someone else do it? I changed my own oil and filter in the fall and winterized the engine. Here's what I plan to do before I put the boat in the water for the season:
Replace spark plugs (after burning off the winterization fogging oil)
Replace fuel filter
Grease/lube all the linkages and bearings
I'm going to replace my OEM bilge pump with a float activated pump so I'll clean the screen/strainer at that time
I'll pull out the impeller and inspect it and check the housing at that time too. (BTW, this sounds a lot scarier that it really is.)
Clean and polish the hull to help keep the critters from clinging.
I'll probably also repack the wheel bearings on my trailer. I doubt it needs to be done but since I don't know I'd rather be safe than sorry. I frequently pull it long distances.
I have a ton of mods/upgrades I plan to do unrelated to the 100 hour maintenance now that I have my family addicted to boating (stereo upgrade, dual batteries, etc.)
I highly recommend going to the FAQ section listed up above and browsing the General Maintenance section. You'll get a really good feel for what's most important and how to do all this stuff. Hope that helps.
Glad to have you on board, it appears the welcoming committee missed your post! I guess everyone's Thanksgiving was enjoyable enough they didn't read the board,
I agree with Lake, who owned it before and their care of it would greatly influence what I would recommend for you.
