Long Story short, Now that my warranty has expired I've decided to play around with some things on the boat. I went to one of my friends who owns a shop repairing Skis, Boat, pretty much any kind of toy on the water and off. They Removed the Plastic resonator and installed a Polished Aluminum Pipe in its place from a Ski they were building. The boat sounds amazing and has a much more deeper tone to it. Next on the list is removing the catalytic Converter along with the 02 Sensors seeing they are problematic and the Skis having almost the same motors don't run them at all. I'm not to worried about emissions. It will be some time before that happens as I want to wait till the off season as the Ocean has been flat almost every weekend thus far and I'm really enjoying the boat with the family.

Just as an FYI, that's not a "water box", it's a resonator. A Hemholtz resonator to be exact. lol. They do a pretty good job of reducing sound without effecting power. In other words, it will sound better/louder, but it's not going to give you any appreciable power. It sounds (ugh.) like you did it for the sound anyway.

I removed both the resonators on my Yamaha but ended up putting them back in and also putting some Moroso silencers in because the noise level at high rpms was too annoying. Between stock (plastic resonators), no resonators with shortened hose runs and larger exhaust outlets and finally back with resonators and mufflers, I saw ZERO power or speed differences.

I also have cat converters since my Yamaha is a California version. I thought about removing them but decided not to for one reason... smell. People like to ride on the back deck of my boat and having cat converters cleaning up the smell and emissions I think is actually a good thing for those people riding back there. If you do end up pulling the cats, I'm curious as to how much different your exhaust smells. Especially if you don't tune it properly for the no cats and no o2's, you might end up with a lot of HC and CO smell. Just a few thoughts.

LOL, now I understand why they kept correcting me. Now I must edit......

Believe it or not, it didn't increase the volume to an annoying level at all, at least to me. I come from the RX7 Rotary world. The plan for the cats was to try a wave runner Computer and see how that goes. I don't have to many people who sit on the back and I don't really pleasure cruise the boat. Its almost is always used for water sports or the local sand bars. If it does becomes an annoyance, it can go back to stock form.

Also, The resonator was removed for more safety reasons than anything else.

What size was the pipe? Off the top of your I have been tinkering with mine too

I believe it was 2 1/2”. Sounds really good when you’re under power and moving but it can become quite annoying in no wake zones. It’s a deep rumble. Doesn’t bother me but the wife wasn’t to thrilled after about the 5th no wake zone.... LOL

I like your style! I have been looking around about removing the cat I don’t see much about it I thought that some one would have tried it
