So I just bought a 1996 sugar sand heat jet boat and I know it’s a two stroke engine but I’m not sure wht type of oil I need to get for it. Is there anything specific it needs?

Never had one, but I would think that normal 2-stroke oil would be the stuff...

the MFM is correct, any TCW3 rated oil will work

If it has the original engine, the info above for the 1996 SugarSand is correct and any TCW3 will work. Quicksilver Premium is just fine.

Many motors puked and were replaced by newer Sportjets. Newer vintage Mercury sportjets like the Quicksilver Premium Plus oil. As stated above, any TCW3 oil should work. That being said, there were SugarSand boats that were build with a Mercury Optimax engine. In that case, use the Quicksilver DFI oil, as standard two stroke would be a no-no.

Open the hood and tell us what you have in there? The most common was the 180/240 EFI engines. (Quicksilver Premium Plus) If it was the 200/250 Optimax (Quicsilver DFI only)

Good luck, from the frozen homeland of SugarSand Marine (back in the day) Fargo, ND.

looks original, that motor was based on the Force outboard. I would go with a TCW3 at 50 to 1

Would two stroke outboard engine oil not work?

Nvm just found two stroke that is tcw3 sorry I’m new at this. What do you mean by 50 to 1 that seems like a large difference of oil to gas?

Do you have oil injection?

(A separate tank for oil) -some take that out and run ore mix at 50:1.

As far as I'm aware those were all carb. motors. Yes 50:1 would be 16 oz oil to 6 gal gas if I remember correctly from my old outboard days, should be a chart on the container. That may not sound like much but it is more than enough at low rpm hence the smoke at idle and the nickname "2 smokes". For reference my injected engine varies from 120:1 at idle to 50:1 at WOT

Yes there are two separated tanks for fuel injection makes sense now thanks!!

Ok, I was having a brain fart thinking you needed to pre mix. Just fill your oil tank with oil and your good. Make sure there is no air in the system if it had been run out and be sure the caps are tight. It uses crankcase pressure to feed the oil to the pump

Does anyone know by chance an estimate of the mpg on this motor?

Don't think you need to worry about miles per gallon rather smiles per gallon. :D

Ha ha love it but still don’t want to get stranded if I don’t need to

No Gas gauge?

Still working on making that part functional.

Hey so compression on the motor Are

1-130
2-150
3-150
4-125

What are your guys thoughts on this?
