Well, this was going to be the break in weekend. Now with all the rain the river is closed to all boat traffic. Closest lake is 1:15 away. Maybe next weekend the river will be down. Remember those who gave all this weekend!

I finally got the Tango in the water last Saturday. The river here is still so high the water is filthy, launches are a mess, no docks to tie off at the ramps. So I got the first hour in idling around as per the instructions. So far, so good.

Made the real maiden voyage today! Got two hours of break in time racked up before the storm rolled in. My son Evan came along for the ride. Happy Father’s Day!

7.5 hours of break in time down. Looks like I may have to go get the rest done this weekend. 😊F5DFA124-106C-4514-9E14-AD2A2E4CCDEA.jpegD80B8B22-C37F-4EB7-A8EE-86D8706BFDA0.jpeg

The adventure continues. The stator was bad. After all the diagnostic testing that was the end result. Just didn’t seem to have as much power as I expected. We’ll see what it’s like after we put the new stator in. This thing ought to nearly throw you out of the boat I would think

New stator in. Good spark on all 6. Ran good for the last of the break in period. Topped out at 5200 with a gps reading of 48. Only held it there for about 20 seconds. Still looking into the Place Diverter. 715BBCA0-F484-4F06-BA4D-582A66206205.jpeg432233C5-228D-4E26-8409-12035612CE0F.jpegNo fish were caught. But what a nice evening.

Looks like my transplant was successful. A few trips to three different lakes, added a Place diverter, haven’t had any mechanical issues after deleting the oil injection system. The Place diverter is a great way to alleviate the handling problems of a small light boat such as this one. The grandkids love it! I’m ready for next summer now! It’s gonna be a long winter. 😊

Hey everybody. I bought a 2001 Tango knowing it had engine problems and figured on rebuilding the motor. The boat is in fantastic condition other than the engine problem. Pulled the motor last night, the #6 cylinder threw a rod through the block. The low oil alarm wire was disconnected, small oil tank was bone dry, and the stator to regulator wire connector bundle was fried. No oil = no dice, so that mystery is solved, but not sure what happened on the wiring. Since the block is junk, rebuilding mine is off the bench, and used motors bring almost as much as a rebuilt, I’m looking at remanufactured. So far from my research it looks like my best option for a replacement motor is Blackbird out in PA. Does anyone have different input as to what my best options are? Thanks.
Well, this week marks a year. Engine replaced, break in hours completed slowly, cover and bimini taken care of, Place diverter installed, 5 good trips to the water, good memories made and planned. Looks like we’ll hang on to her for a few years!62B12067-8EDA-47A4-98A5-B754018B1115.jpegC689B06D-CD15-4C97-AB0E-EC993A42EE1B.jpeg

Quick update: still runs good, but I had to replace the seat panels I cut with 1/2” thick HDPE. My nephew is 6’7” 300# and snapped one of the 1/8” thick ones on a good bounce over a wave. Lesson learned! Haven’t been out much this year, but there’s still plenty of summer left.
