I have a 2006 SX 231 motor runs great the other one not so much it’ll run if I pour gas in the top of the engine, but it dies out after the gas is gone fuel pump is working great I don’t know if it’s the injectors or if it’s bad plugs, but the other engine runs and purrs like a kitten.

Just changed the plugs doing the same thing and it’s a sx 230. 1 motor runs perfectly. The other one doesn’t.

Engines 101 would say check fuel, air and spark first. If you have confirmed pressure from the fuel pump (or have a brand new one) and pouring in gas works (which is dangerous, btw--knew a guy who wound up with 3rd degree burns over basically the top 1/4 of his body helping a stranded motorist that way), that confirms spark and air. That leaves the rest of the fuel system (injectors, injector rail, etc.).

What was the pressure on the fuel pump? Any changes to the ECU or injectors recently (or anything else changed, added, moved, etc. in the boat recently)?

I’ve changed the spark plugs. I didn’t check the pressure at the fuel pump, but it is pouring out like crazy when the key is on no flow restriction. It’s a friend Boat. I fixed many of engines, but this one’s got me baffled and it only has 10 hours on it

A 2006 with 10 hours on it? Or just the engine has 10 hours?

Pouring out is good. If the engines have been changed, I would start verifying the injector line, particularly electrical connections. Many cases of bent or corroded pins on connectors on these boats. Does not take much to bend one. Engine with 10 hours I would rule out the injectors themselves; very unlikely to be gummed up at that age. Is the fuel pump 10 hours as well? If so, we can probably rule out pressure situation on that one, too.

The injectors were pretty gummed up… the Boat is 100% original with 10 hours on it. Rich guy bought it and never drove it and then it’s been sitting for years. I’m sure it wasn’t fogged.
