2018 242X Ballast System not working. Need help/Advice

My 2018 242X is plagued with ballast issues and Yamaha can’t get it fixed and says the part I need is on backorder for over a year. They installed 3 new pumps but now says that’s not the problem that I need a new “Switch Control”. Of course this part is on backorder for who knows how many years because of “Covid” the dealer/Yamaha says. I’m looking for a way to be able to get our family surfing ropeless this summer. I already have a Fatsac ready to go for transom but I need the stock ballast system to work to have any chance at ropeless. There’s another boat at my dealer that has been waiting on this same switch control for almost 2 years. Ideas anyone? Thanks!

If it’s the wiring and electrical side and you don’t feel like waiting on your dealer or Yamaha, why not just buy what you need from Wakemakers? Doesn’t Yamaha use Jabsco water puppy pumps like most boats? If so go here and get what you need from switches to wiring harness Wire, switches, connectors and electrical accessories for installing ballast systems

I jumped on the wake makers site and it looks like you would need 3 wiring kits at $134.00 each these are not plug and play you will run into issues I have created a plug and play system specific to different models 21' to 24'.


This will cost less and is boat specific
