We’ve noticed recently on a few outings that the rear port storage compartment is getting soaked. I’m still trying to isolate the issue, but it seems to occur when draining the ballast. It doesn’t seem to happen every time and I haven’t seen any spot leaking as it is back behind the partition Yamaha installed in the compartment.

I haven’t tested things enough to be sure what is happening, but one thought I had is that it seems to occur more consistently if I’m creeping forward at no wake speeds while emptying the ballast. Anybody else run into a similar issue or have an idea what may be causing the carpet in the rear port storage compartment to get soaked?

Not sure if it’s related but look into the anchor locker drain at the front of the boat the water weeps in and someone just posted that they had the carpet get wet under the seat.

Two thoughts come to mind. Check your cupholders above the cubby. Some cupholders have drains in them and some do not. ON the rear swim platform, the cupholders on the 242 have drains just below them (good) where as the cupholders inside the cabin but just below the engine flush ports do not (bad). So any water that gets into them will drain into the cubby below. If you find that your cupholder drains aren't attached to anything, you can either put some silicone over the drain holes or run some hoses down to the bilge.

Another thing is to shimmy back into the cubby where you're finding water near the bag and check the fill/drain hose. My 242 was leaking when I first got it and I noticed the fill hole was on the top of the bag when it was new. This was forcing a lot of pressure on the attachment point and when the bag was full it would leak and there would be water on top of the bag. I managed to work my way back in there, flip the bag over, and reattached the hose so that it doesn't have that pressure on it and now it doesn't leak.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get as good of a connection on the center bag and it leaks still. I can at least pull the drain down there and run it to the bilge.

I’ll have to check out the fill drain hose. I’ve already added hoses for the cup holders.
