Hi, long timer reader, first time post. I just purchased this jet boat with 35 hours on it and for some reason the speed only displays zero. The transducer type (model) is only for temp and depth. Where in the world is the speed sensor? What am I missing? I see no pin wheel anywhere and no GPS device, unless I'm completely blind.

Thanks for your advice,

Mine did this after the bunk pushed the paddle wheel deflectors against it, the paddle wheel on he speed sensor has little plastic protectors on each side check the nothing is lodged there or if the plastic pieces are not impeding the wheel. The wheel is on starboard side about 16 inches ahead of the stern area.

Happens to me all the time when the ski gets lodged to clay or sand after beaching.
It kind of looks like this

Hmm, that's just it, my 2020 SX190 has no pin wheel sensor that I can find. I've looked everywhere, night and day. Only thing under the boat is the Airmar Smart Depth/Temp sensor without a pin wheel. I looked up the part number for this just to confirm it was only depth and temp, no speed.

Is the speedo gps on 2020 190? It is on my 2020 212.

That's what I'm trying to figure out as well. I can't find anything about it online and I've been through this boat inside and out. I can't find a GPS device. That being said, I have no idea what it looks like.

I dont think its something you can find, its inside the connext thing. Like your phone GPS, its very little chips that are inside circuit board I would think

Does you boat have a white hockey puck looking device around you windshield? I think that the gps antenna, I could be wrong. If you zoom in on my boat right in frt of the windshield stbd side. If I am wrong someone will let us know.20201002_124706.jpg

Thanks for the information. I do not have that on my boat. I've been under the storage area behind the dash and the only antenna wire I see is the radio.

I wondered that as well. Maybe something is wrong with my connext?

that is GPS antenna, it will most likely be used for speed calculation as well.

The GPS antenna is an external white “hockey puck” as mentioned. It is not like a phone or interested into the Connext display.

I don’t think AR190’s or any 19’ boats come with GPS. Is it possible you can’t see your paddle wheel because it’s under the trailer bunk? I’m wondering if you have your wheel stuck or jammed up inside the housing. The paddle wheel should be on the starboard side of the hull near the transom.

Thanks for the information. That's very helpful. I have the back cover off the swim deck and looking inside, I see no wires for a speed sensor. I see the depth finder, but no speed sensor. I've confirmed no GPS puck on the boat either. Looking inline with the bunk inside the haul, still no wires to be found going to that area. Check out the photos and let me know what you think. I guess I'll have to look under the boat next I'm out, but I can't see why the Yamaha would have the boat parked with the speed sensor jammed into the bunk. Hopefully not! Plus, you have to be able to service it from inside the haul. Anyone got photos of where there's is located from inside the haul?

I had a 2017 Ar190 didn't have a transducer (depth/temp) but it did have the paddle wheel for speed O. I am guessing 2020 have gps, no wheel. Call the dealer, tell them jetboaters.net sent you ?

I just checked mine, 2021 190 fsh sport. I have paddle wheel beside the jet inlet on the right side toward the stern. There is no way the bunk can cover it, it is too far and location is almost center.

I wonder if Yamaha didn't install?

This is weird, looking online I can see the GPS parts for the 2020 212S but not for the 2020 SX190. No paddle wheel either in the parts diagram that i could find.

Maybe Yamaha decided that speed is a cosmetic feature. Kind of like tower standing up during tough weather is cosmetic thing

I did the same before posting. Didn't see it in the parts list. You would think if Yamaha didn't include speed, 190 owners would have mention something before me. I guess I'll give them a call. Seems very strange to me not to have speed monitoring. I found this device, (AIRMAR) wonder if it can be used in place of my depth/temp?

No way it doesn't have speed o.
