Hey everyone. I bought a 2021 SX190 with the Shorelandr black painted/powder-coated trailer back in August. I have a few questions about boat / bow placement and adding boat buckles, hoping for some feedback.

Boat placement/bow roller:
I spent some time last weekend trying to get the boat to sit perfectly on the bunks. No matter what I did or have done, I get a gap up front at the bow roller/winch hook. I have to ratchet it down every time and think it's putting too much pressure on the hull/bunks. The bow eye seems to hit directly at the roller, not under it or over it.
Attached are some pictures of how the boat sits on the bunks from the rear and how the bow roller isn't touching, and the bolt holes for the bow/winch post. Most pics were taken with the winch loosened up, as when it's stored, I don't keep pressure on the winch. The one pic is with it ratcheted down.
I tried loading and reloading the boat at multiple different depths to see if I was backing in too far, but no matter what I did, it never comes up and sits properly.
I was thinking of loosening some bolts and trying to get the bow roller to meet the hull as it sits now. Is that a bad idea? Anyone else have this issue or is this the way it is supposed to be?

Boat Buckles:
I've read a bunch of different posts on this on here, but am curious how many people used the boat buckle brackets to install theirs? I have them, and was thinking of installing using the existing tie-down holes on the small plate and placing them upright to minimize the angle. Will this be sufficient or are the brackets junk? I do not want to drill into the frame. Pics also attached for a better idea.

Thanks in advance.

My winch bracket is bent like they power loaded the boat full speed at the factory, but lines up great.

Buckles I bolted to the rear crossbar of the frame, 4" bolts fit through existing holes perfectly and allowed for a nice straight pull without using the flimsy brackets by the lights. I bought the mounting kit and immediately packed it back up, not impressed.

I agree with above on the boat buckle placement. I did use the mounting kit on mine however. They angle it back to line up with the eyes. If you mount them by the lights they will bend. I used some SS bolts and nyloc nuts.

Paul, I experience the same thing with my ‘19 AR190 (same trailer), there is always a gap between the bow rolled and the front of the boat. It doesn’t seem right, but if I really winch it all the way in to where the bow touches the roller then the trailer seems way to front heavy/too much tongue weight.

Good to know. I drive with it winched down to prevent bouncing, but loosen when stored. I’m considering trying to move the bow/winch post back an inch or so.
I’m going to try putting the boat buckles on the existing tabs using the extension hardware and see how it holds up. If it doesn’t hold, I’ll consider drilling holes next year. The Yamaha straps are a hassle.

Looks like on your 4th & 5th picture that you have one notch you can go up to raise the bow roller. That should bring the eye in below the roller and may give you a better result. I would want the boat against the bow roller. Otherwise on a short stop, your boat is going to shift forward (and if that eye is the first point of contact, the results may not be pretty).

Going to try that out. When I drive with it, the boat is winched down against the bow roller.

Attached is how the boat buckles turned out. I tried a bunch of different angles and mounting options, but this seemed to keep the belts straight. There’s a little pressure on the plastic housing edge, but nothing I can do about it.

Diggin up and old thread…
I adjusted my bow stop up to try and better meet the bow instead of leaving a gap, and also to stop winching downward. Does this look safe/acceptable?
Before, the bow eye hit the roller before the hull would rest against it, and to prevent bouncing, I would tighten it down.
I had to change which hole the bolt with the sleeve went through and adjust the entire bow stop stand back a little bit, but to me, this seems like it might work better. The winch strap will now run a bit on the one bolt it passes over. I think it also has a sleeve on it.

As long as your winch strap is not rubbing against anything there, I think you should be fine.
