242-x ballast questions

That was my thought. I had the dealer remove it last Fall and they said they replaced it with a new pump. but alas it's still leaking.

So I finally had time to mess around with the ballast today, I did as some of you said, held the sys cntl button on connext to open up a diagnostic screen. From there I saw the calibrate and clicked that. I can now fill all of my bags, thanks alot for that!

I then went about investigating the valve lever in the engine bay, mine was set to a 45 degree angle, so 1/2 open. I then opened the valve (what I think is opening the valve) which is pulling the lever towards me and making is perpendicular to the water. The two lever positions would be parallel to the water or perpendicular to the water (and anywhere inbetween which I assume is partially open/closed)

After that I still get the close value before using messages EVERYTIME I click ballast button, it's annoying.

I am going to mess around a bit more before the season ends.
What exact steps did you take in the diagnostic screen? I’m having the same problem.

I have a question about the 2019-2020 Yamaha 242 X ballast.
I'd like to wakeboard but I don't know anyone who has a captains license that could tow me, so if I never use the ballast system
would it be easily removable?
If it's not possible diy could the dealer remove it?
Or would you just leave the bags empty the whole time.
Wondering about the added storage space I would gain and possibly not having to deal with any of the issues of the system

Im not sure why you would need a captains license my 15 year old son drives the boat while I wakeboard . He started driving the boat at 12 . The ballast bags can easily be removed on the 242 they don’t take up much space when empty no need for removal . The 212 has a rigid tank I’m not sure how easy that can be removed .

Since the ballast bags are soft on the 242 (on mine anyway) they don't take up much space so they don't really hurt anything in there. If I were to remove one, I'd do the center as it's the easiest to reach. The connections for the rear bags are clear back against the rear bulkhead. I've removed the starboard one before but the port one is back there behind the batteries...regardless removing them requires shimmying back into that compartment and working in there.

Ok cool thanks for the replies I appreciate it
And @Cambo unfortunately in NJ the person driving the boat needs a license or boat safety certificate even if the person being towed has one
