3 days with a Tesla Model 3 from an admitted critic.

We also have had our Model Y for about a month. It will be a long time before we master all the technology...if we ever do. One item we tried this week was during a rainstorm, we summoned the car while we stood under a canopy at the city center. We watched the car back out of its parking space and maneuver through the parking lot . It turned on the wipers and drove up to us so we didn't have to run through the rain. Nice.
It is quiet and smooth and full self driving is incredible. The only issue we have had is it won't recognize 70 mph speed limit signs. It reads them as 55 mph and will not go the limit.

Insurance was the $6/mo less for the Rivian compared to my Audi. I think there's too many variables and too much anecdotal evidence to say insurance in always higher or lower.

80% range after 200k miles is likely better than more ICE vehicles as well. Only takes a drop from 25mpg to 20mpg to see the same reduction in range. Feels pretty comparable to me.
I had 2021 ModelY and ford f150 that costs more money is $50 a month cheaper. So I guess depends on what is compared.
Ford cost me $100 a year to do oil change and tire rotation.
In couple year though will get another Model Y for sure. Tesla improved it a lot vs early models.

Except ICE vehicles have consistently shown they don't lose any mpg or range as they age. My 92 Vette did 27mpg on the way to race at Sebring (on sticky race tires no less). The EPA rated it for 23. Admittedly there may be some shenanigans because when it was rated there was no E10 and I think the EPA revised a lot of old ratings down, but reality is that if my literal track car with 140k miles can still pull at or over rated mpg, OCE vehicles aren't going to lose range unless they're not maintained.

Also, insurance on my BMW is insane. It's like literally 50% of our insurance cost with 5 cars on the policy (yes, I know, I have a problem but I think the solution is more cars). I think German cars are just insanely expensive to insure. My insurance literally went up by like $100+ a month when I added it.
