It was a beautiful day; perfect for the pre-season wash and wax. Man, and I thought boat took a while! We can't wait to put this on a lake for the summer. What used to be a one day outing on weekends can now be entire weekends of boating fun. Post your polished pics of boats, campers, skis, tow vehicles or whatever else you buff. Shine on!

Nice job! What did you use for wax and did you have a buffer? I use a quality soap for cleaning which is some sort of boat wash and call it good. I've never had the slightest desire to wax the thing. It's just too much surface area.

I used Meguiars car wash soap and a Mothers California Gold synthetic wax that I had on hand. We got it new last September so I figured it was worth a try and she was worthy of an initial coat to protect. It was actually MUCH easier than expected as everything is totally flat. I did it all by hand. On your back under the boat is a much bigger pain the neck. Tunes cranked on the outside speakers and working on the shady side as the sun progressed was a nice day of work.

There is no need waxing or applying polish below the waterline unless you are just doing it to get scuff marks off. Any wax or polish will completely come off after just a few uses of the boat. So save your back and don't worry about waxing the bottom
Of the boat.

I see your point; but considering the PO liked to beach without a keel guard and I have 10 years of oxidation, my OCD has me polishing each season to gradually bring back some of that showroom shine. It is a balance of looks and not burning through all the gel coat. I haven't mastered the power buffer and haven't bit the bullet on a professional buff job.
