Abyss Underwater LED Light Install

Finally pulled the trigger. I've had the lights for a few weeks now, but have been debating on whether I really wanted to do this or not. Wife left at 6pm and I had them installed by 7pm. Hopefully it will be a nice surprise for her the next time we go out.

Had to take out the whole clean out tray to be able to see what I would be drilling into

Might as well clean out all the random junk while I'm in there

Will do. It will be a couple weeks before I can get her in the water to test them out. I will definitely post up some more pictures, and let you know if it was all worth it.

I used 3m 5200 around, inside, and behind each hole. The abyss lights are designed to be slightly separated from the hull to allow water to get behind them and keep them cool. This means you can't get too crazy with the sealant, but I did as much as I could.

Yep. Spliced the two lights together and then ran power up the starboard side to the power distribution block I have behind the helm. Just have a cheapo switch back there for now until I figure out a more permanent solution.

Here's my underwater light setup. I put 1 Dagon V2 light (boatpluglight.com) in the center above the keel. pretty easy install and wiring.

Dang that thing is a beast. 8,000 lumens for $200. Looks great.

Finally got a chance to play with the lights. Pretty impressed. While anchored they light up about 20 to 25 feet, and about twice at wide at the boat. Hard to tell from the pics, but pretty darn cool. Below are two videos the wife took. One at no wake and one at cruise.

Wow, lit up the whole harbor. Would be nice to try them out in Bimini someday. My pics are from Lake Michigan. Clean water, but not the same and pretty deep.

The LEDs failed in an old 40 watt light on my boat. I opened it up and installed a single 100 watt LED COB. The clear water in Bimini certainly increases the amount of water illuminated. For scale Boondoggle in the background is a 62 Ocean.
