Anyone have any pix of speakers they added to the cockpit area on their boats? I have 2014 242LS and want to add 2 more speakers to the cockpit/helm area with this new audio upgrade. So, in the end, there will be a total of (8) 6.5 speakers. Just wondering where Y'all placed them.

Thought above the glove box on the Port side and one beside the captains chair or below the throttle about calf high.

Thanks.

Did revo 6.5 fit there without rings?I mean depth.

I would doubt it - it gets very shallow there. You can remove the 4 screws for the key switch, measure to the wall, then subtract the depth of the black piece. I'd probably also subtract another bit off that since the hull curves inward slightly.

Here's my effort based on everyone's inspiration. I have a 2024 252SE that I added 2 WetSounds RECON 6 RGB speakers to the helm. I was pretty afraid to drill and couldn't really get a great sense of the depth from measuring inside the cup holders, but I figured if it worked on everyone else's' boat it should be the same on mine. Worst case I'd use some speaker depth extension rings that I ordered from Amazon and had on hand just in case. I ended up returning them though as there was plenty of depth.

One thing I noticed was that when you're cutting, there's about a 3/4" for the vinyl panel then you cut into the hidden part of the black side panel. Then there is a bit more air space before you actually hit the hull. My only regret w/this project is not placing the starboard speaker further forward. Now it interferes with the forward cupholder. The port side worked out fine.

For the speaker wires, I ended up running the port side speaker and RGB wiring aft then around and back up the starboard side into the helm where I mounted a Kicker KMA 600.4 amp and used @Adrian @ JB Solutions' wiring harness to split off from the factory amp.

The results were amazing though, I can actually hear music now while underway and not have to blast it (and annoy my wife).

I also plan to split off the subwoofer to the new amp from the factory amp (using @Adrian @ JB Solutions ' kit again) to see if that improves the bass response before investing in a replacement sub.

Any tips/tricks for when you cut into the vinyl, such that it didn’t pull/tear outside of where you have the speakers mounted? Did you use a hole saw or a different tool? Thanks for sharing your post!
