I have an '06 Yamaha SR210 that I added a ND tower to the other year. I'm going to be adding either PP or the new Hydrophase system this spring as well. Given the additions I am thinking I would like to add some ballast bags as well, but nothing too 'crazy'. Most installs require thru-hull installations (which I have done countless ones before) but I do not want to do with this boat. Is there a ballast system that does not require thru-hulls? I'm fine with tossing the pump over the side to fill and empty if needed as a 'hack' to the install. Obviously if we like how everything works then maybe I might go for a full install but not to start. If anyone has done anything like this or has any thoughts please let me know, thanks!

I have a 2006 230SX and use the following Fat Sacs and go ropeless for long distances. Don't have the Surf Wedge yet, so the face isn't like glass due to the et wash, but it is definitely surf able and sustainable.

I din't want to go through hull either, so I throw two pumps overboard to fill and empty. Takes 15 minutes.

Fat Sacs

718 - 1,150 lbs (Back and Port Seat)
703 (2) - 260 lbs / 520 lbs total (under port and starboard seats)
701 (2) - 400 lbs / 800 lbs total (I move these around. sometimes 1 in ski locker and one in port bow seat. Sometimes one on swim platform. sometimes flood the ski locker as well.)

It's a lot of weight, but its what i found is needed to set a wake I want to play on.

FatSacs has plenty of bags of various sizes and the quality is good. Get the measurements of where you want to put them and go shopping to fill that space.

Note: I have found that when sitting for extended periods of time with all the ballast loaded, water leaks in through the rub rail and the boat takes on even more (undesired weight). So I don't sit still long. We fill to surf in the morning and then to drinking and wake boarding later when empty.

I don't use my boat for surfing as much anymore now that I got 2 buddies hooked on surfing and they bought dedicated surf boats. Best fuel I ever bought was teaching them how to surf and getting them hooked.

Thank you for the detailed response! I like the idea of using the ski locker as well, never crossed my mind. I was browsing their site after seeing your post and send them an email as well. This might work out well!
