Air Force One on the Potomac

How do they load/unload that thing from a boat?

I am guessing a couple of cranes.
FYI - that plane ended up at The National Harbor which just outside of DC. I understand you can take of a tour of it. I see when I am driving home from work. Have not taken a tour of it yet.

I have seen a few interesting things on the water, but nothing like that!

Yeah word got out in my area that it was heading up the Potomac. A bunch of folks on boats were following it up the river. It was pretty cool to watch the tug boats switch places. One tug would push while the other pulled. Not sure why they would switch places....I guess either pushing or pulling is harder on the tug engines? not sure

Kinda like geese, the leader gets tired so it switches to the rear for a while?

Isn't that one a full size mock up for museum duty?

Yeah, isn't that the one that's been on display at National Harbor for the past few months? Looks like it's heading to NYC for its next stint. And yep, it's an old 747 that's been refurbished to look like one of the presidential ones.

I know we were thinking about going to see it and discussed the idea a few times but it seemed crazy expensive for four of us (particularly considering the crazy "peak" premium!) - $145 for 45-60 minutes? Factor in reports of one to two hour waits to get in (even though the tickets are timed) and then you can only see three or four rooms on the plane (no to cockpit - the one area I'd want to see most - and galley, for example) and even this aviation geek gave it a pass.
