Welcome aboard @Hamp! We have a pretty good group of Jetboaters that get together throughout the summer. Most of which are over your way on Mitchell, but we get together at Lake Tuscaloosa and Lake Martin and are looking to get up to Smith this summer. We often talk about our weekend plans and announce if we're heading to a certain lake through the Facebook page.

We're down in Destin, too, every opportunity we can get. Crab Island is our favorite spot.

Shouldn't be too bad. My cousin (USCG) and I plotted it out and figured from the PCB marina (near Just The Cook) it would be about 50-55nm. Estimated 2-2.5hrs at a nice cruise. It would be a full day (or two [haven't decided]) but should be fun.

I haven't done that one yet. We've considered it many times. Thought about making it an overnighter one weekend. I'm always willing to give it a shot, though.
