Sorry if this has been covered before, but cant seem to find the answer I am looking for. For you guys who have installed amps, how and where did you run the wires from the HU to the battery compartment.

I am contemplating mounting the amps in the battery compartment, so I would need to run RCA's and Speaker wires to the HU... is there a conduit that can be used, and if so what did you use to run the line...

Any help is appreciated... I really dont want to spend $250 to have a $150 JL amp installed... I have done cars before, but never a boat like this.

follow the steering cables.... there is a little channel that goes between the helm and fuel tank, then from the fuel tank to either the engine or the port storage there are a few gaps you can get wires through. Hope this helps...

BTW might be easier to install the amps in the helm storage. shorter RCA runs (thinking about noise pickup from Car Audio days) and your speaker wires are home run, but you may want to rerun these anyway. Check out Mainah's install for some great ideas! It's what I did and I couldn't be happier!

You can go around the inside of the engine compartment and down the storage following the the main wiring harness over the bulkhead and removing the small tray to pass the wire the rest of the way to the helm if needed or as @Ryan Cassidy said you can pull up you fuel tank cover and use the channel that the sterring cables follow under the helm. Either way I highly recommend good wire (check out knukoncepts.com kolous flexs wire), conduit (I used sump pump hose, plenty of zip ties, and a waterproof line fuse with 18 inches of your positive connection at the battery (house battery switch prefered as connection point).

I have to ask where you found a JL Audio amp for 150 and which model? Might be worth a bargins post.

I got the JL Audio HMX280/4 from Sonic Electronix for $151, I know it's technically a powersports amp, but JL said the only difference between the Powersports and Marine version was the color of the heatsink and they are the exact same amp and perfect for Marine use. Sonic has it listed at $169 with a "Best Offer" button and I typed in $140 and they countered at $151. It's an underrated amp and puts out closer to 70Wx4 according to the amp dyno.
