Any advice for new Scarab owner

So it's not too bad if I leave my boat in the water as long as I clean the hull?

correct, it just takes time to clean it, depending on how your lake is will also determine how much slime is on there, that's why it's good to look at some other boats in the marina that are in the water,

here is a lift for sale that is at Hubbard, not saying it's the one for you but they are out there,

What are some things I should look at on a lift so I know if its worth buying?

Do you know the depth of water in your slip? How shallow might it get during the summer? One of the biggest differences in lifts is the depth of water required to use them.

Just talked to the marina they do not let other companies put lifts in their docks. So either I buy from them or somebody that already has a lift in their slip

I copied this from a quick google search on how most lifts work, it seems pretty basic and as long as it's not rusted not much to go wrong, but be sure you know your water depth,

///////////////////////////////
A motor with a blower attached about the size of a vacuum cleaner motor
blows the air into the tanks. Each tank has a hole at the opposite end of
the tank of where the hose attaches, on the bottom that is about 4 inches in
diameter.

Two controls are in the enclosure that houses the blower, an electric switch
to turn on the blower and a valve. To raise the boat lift the valve is
opened and the blower motor turned on. It can be left on until air bubbles
out of the 4 inch holes and this is the maximum lift that can be obtained.
Once the boat is lifted to the desired height of to the lifting limit the
valve is manually closed and all the air is retained in the tanks. When the
boat is to be launched the valve is opened but the motor is NOT turned on,
the captured air from the rank escapes past the blower and the lift settles
into the lake.

Thanks for your help Scott

That's great, I think you'll like having it out of the water much better than painting it,

if you don't mind me asking how much were they going to charge you to paint it ?

Not at all. It was $10 a ft. so mine was like $190 estimate they gave me

How often should I wash the hull if it's on a lift?

probably not very often, I've used mine on Lewisville for 4 years now and never had to clean it, I left in the water at Possum Kingdom for 3 days and it had a nice brown film on it,

I definitely wanna get out to Lewisville. I'm thinking of buying the new Chevy Colorado to tow my boat. Just wanna wait a bit after buying the boat, slip ad lift.

It sounds like you have elongated your need to tie until you want to try out another lake.

Depending on how pendantic you are about keeping your boat spotless you may want to use something like hot sauce as often as every time time you take your boat out.

Mine gets waxed once a year and hot sauced a couple of times per year. Lake Ouachita is one of the cleanest in the country so she comes out pretty clean.

@Scarabsteve I see you updated your avitar! how have you been able to use your lift yet ? how does the boat handle ?

Ya put the boat on the lift Sat. Still breaking in the engine. Sucks with all the rain and cold weather last week. It's suppose to be in the 70s all this week so hopefully put some hours on the engine

Nobody has an unpainted boat where I live if they keep it in the water. I am getting my brand new Scarab painted as soon as I get it. Its the only way on LI, as far as resale value, I will have had plenty of fun before I worry about that :winkingthumbsup"
