I want to keep the grill in the back but I don't like how far the grill will extend into the swim deck area. So I'm considering adding a mount so that the leg will protrude backward instead.

Has anybody done this?

Any other ideas?

Id like a second table leg so I can have the table up while i grill...price of a second leg seems very high though!

agreed on the second leg, I think it is like 250,m which is a bit high...

Wouldn't this mean that you'll have to straddle the leg while you're grilling. I use the table mount that's back there and it really is perfect. I can sit on the upper portion of the swim deck with the grill hovering in front of me. It's comfortable, convenient and does not impede swim deck/cockpit access. It's really handy to serve food to folks in the water, on the swim deck, and in the cockpit without having to move from my seating position. My advice is to try the stock mount before looking to improve it.

As far as having a table while you grill, just buy a serving shelf to attach to your grill.

I was thinking of having it turned sideways and standing on the bottom platform to grill. I saw a picture of one mounted to the stock mount and it looked like it would be pretty close to people when they climb the ladder to get out of the water. With 2 little ones (5&7) i'm concerned about them getting burned.

Good call on trying the stock mount. I'll give it a go first.

What about putting a mount up in the bow for grilling? Either on the port/starboard side under one of the side seats, or on the front where the step is?

Standing while grilling, maybe on perfectly calm days. You can drink way more beer and still get everybody fed if you're seated, especially with the cup holders within reach.

I wouldn't want my grill situated above the stereo remote. Also, having it on the back deck as opposed to the bow gives the added convenience of any spills being washed away by the wave action.

I'm speaking from extensive experience. I have almost 100 hrs on my 2015 AR240, and I use my grill every time (no exaggeration) that I go out. If I thought that there was a better setup, I'd suggest it; pride never gets in the way of seeing better ways to do things. Using the factory fixtures means not having to drill holes and mount things that might eventually create other problems. I purchased an extra table leg for my grill. I store it in my grill carry case. I store all my grill stuff in my grill carry case under the starboard cockpit bench seat where the Yamaha cooler is supposed to go. When it's time to grill, I move the carry case, a cooler with the food and a cooler of beer :) to the swim deck. Once I have the grill set up, I put the grill carry case back under the starboard cockpit seat so it's out of the way. It's heaven. Sitting, enjoying family and friends, grilling, and havin' a beer. It's nice to grill where everybody hangs out because I get to socialize with them while I prepare the food.

My 242 has a mounting point on the starboard side. I bought an extra table leg for about $140 online and the magma fishing rod mount. I had to rig up the connections to get the two sizes of pipes to fit tight without rattling. It turned it great but I haven't had a chance to use it yet as we just mounted it this winter.

Since this picture was taken, I've actually dropped the grill a little lower into the table leg to where it's a good height to stand on the lower platform but also low enough to sit on the seat and still reach the grill.

The advice is very much appreciated! Gonna order the leg and grill to see how it goes.

Last summer we spent a fortune at the lake restaurants and I'm looking to eliminate that spend.

I paid $125 at MyGreenOutdoors.com, but price looks to have dropped to $106.
Full disclosure I've not received it to be sure it fits...

Yes, please let us know. Looking closely it doesn't appear to have the notch that locks it in place. And they are out of stock.
