The coating is coming off of the intake of the port jetpump. It looks like paint coming off when the surface isn't prepped properly. Starboard is fine with no peeling.

Any thoughts? Normal Yamaha stuff? Warranty issue? The boat never cavitates and the aluminum doesn't look like it is corroding from not having the coating. Nothing has ever been sucked in and it's been doing this since I noticed it at about 5 hours.

Thanks,
Mark

Yep. Mine too. I've seen others as well. Does that make it normal? Not in my book.
Is it bad, probably not a big deal. Have to figure it hasn't been an issue at all for me after all this time.

Besides, I just chalk it up to these engines being so damn powerful they blow the paint right off the metal!!

I haven't been normal for years, so I am probably a poor reference on that front.

I don't think mine is painted down there. But I can't really say that I have ever taken note. Are you in salt or fresh water? If salt, I might worry more. In fresh, probably not as much, but I might mention it to them the next time I bring it in for something. IMHO, etc.

Mine was chipping on the grate and around the ride plate. I just got some marine primer and paint and re-sprayed it.

Don't worry about it. Soon that pretty shaft will be rusted as well. [thats what she said]

I have not seen one that isn't. My new 242 LS has not peeled yet. That's a bad thing. That means I am not using it enough. :(
