We've had our '16 AR240 for about 6 months, love love love this boat but I've had the itch since taking my first wakesurfing ride (in an AXIS) to start looking at the 242x. The practical side of me says "you're bleeping crazy to spend that much when, for less than $2000, you can fat sack and PerfectPass the existing boat". I've searched the forum for ballast setups, I think I've got that roughed out but haven't been able to find much on the PerfectPass. Anyone using this on their Yamaha? Thoughts? It's $1400 here (http://www.perfectpass.com/?q=ppforyamaha).

This is from our FAQ tab at the top of the page;

I have PP on my AR230 and love the idea of it (my display screen is going on the fritz and I'm not happy I'm about to have to spend another $250. to replace it)
I really like the idea of the ridesteady if that will work on your boat,

It makes the job of the boat driver so much easier,

What @RiverRat said!
There is not even a comparison, for twin Yamaha boat models (that are compatible with RS - and yours is!) @Ridesteady wins on every single aspect/feature, as compared to PerfectPass. Not even close, IMO.
In particular:
  1. fly-by-wire control/ no servo motors
  2. electronic synchronization of twin engines (sic!)
  3. knob control

+1 on the Ridesteady. It would be a travesty to put Perfect Pass on a Ridesteady compatible boat.

I've got a '16 AR240 myself. Added the Ridesteady this last spring... I feel like I saved $20k on an E-series...

I had no idea Ridesteady comes with long bimini. LOL
You got me on that one... :rolleyes: Stereo upgrade and ballast were also necessary. And and and... Dammit! ;)
