Well that was quick. Memorial Day weekend and we already have a casualty. Family and I were headed up to the lake yesterday for some boating, we get about an hour into the drive and stop off to grab some groceries. I hop in the boat to load up the cooler, and would ya look at that, no more rear seat cushion.

As we got back on the road (yes, we were undeterred and still had a great day), I looked up what it would cost to replace. Holy smokes! $250 !$&!?!? Now I know where Yamaha makes their money. So first question, are there any aftermarket shops that do this cheaper? Or should I just bite the bullet and replace it with an OEM cushion?

Second question: Anyone figure out a good way to secure these? I had 2 3m Velcro tabs on the bottom of it, as well as a 6 pack of seltzer water on top of it, and apparently that wasn’t enough. I’m thinking of installing some snap straps next time, kind of like what secures the front windshield.

For bonus points: attached photos of the aftermath. Ended up seeing the cushion on the side of the road on the way home. It didn’t fair as well as I had hoped.

Yikes, that's no good at all. Only reason I travel with a cover on. Keep the stuff in the boat......well.....in the boat.

Hope it's an easy replacemt.

No idea in an upholstery shop coat. As for holding them in, McMaster sells cheap lanyards made from nylon coated stainless steel. Would be easy enough to add a lanyard that is hard mounted inside the compartment, then clips on to the bottom of the cushion with a carabineer and an added loop on the cushion.

My old Rinker 182 had removable jump seats. It also had small lengths of nylon webbing off the front with a snap on the end. They would snap on to the interior panel somewhere such that they couldn't be removed without unsnapping. We trailered that one all over the place without a cover and never lost a cushion.

Just a couple ideas.

Exact same cushion I lost. I reordered one online, but have not received yet.

On the freeway I hit 80 once and it popped out. I think that is the only no hinged cushion besides the bow so I am going to store both from now on while towing.

I just got my '19 Ar195 and always put this cushion and the snap in one beside it in the truck. Man that sucks it blew out. I was super paranoid about that happening. I had a new issue over the weekend. The co-pilot bench seat came loose due to both nuts falling off. Yamaha does a terrible job with nuts and bolts and not choosing to put loctite or nylon nuts on key places. I have had multiple nuts fall off of things. I was riding in a brand new 212X this weekend at a demo event and the front anchor hatch latch came loose and we almost broke the hatch from it flying open.

In the 242 limited they have a piece of webbing with a snap installed to hold the center rear seat in place. Ill take a picture when im down this weekend, and post, but would suggest that as a simple fix..

Watch out for the anchor locker cushion as well that’s the other one that isn’t hinged on the 19’ AR195. I suppose that one is less likely to go but who knows. I’ll be looking at adding more Velcro or snaps after your post!

I keep the front cushion and that rear cushion inside my truck while I tow it for just that reason.

I had heard stories about this for sometime before getting ours. This is what I do. I loop a dock rope through the two outside grab handles for the rear seats, draping the rope over the outer cushions with the engine lid up. I let the rope fall into the engine compartment and then latch it closed with the rope inside. It tightens down on the outer cushions. At the ramp Im forced to open the engine compartment and air it out, check oil in the water and have a dock line ready. Hope it helps.

I take off all 3 cushions (Anchor locker, step over and rear starboard) that are not on hinges and place in my truck during all towing to not take any chances and lose one.
