Does anyone know if you can retrofit the newer limited/ AR240 towers to the older AR24o's? I have the old design that mounts on the outside of the hull.

I have the same hull as you. The word on the street is NO because our hulls do not have the necessary reinforcement . Needless to say that the 2015+ AR tower is not the best design out there. Pretty yes. Reliable No

The 10-14 240 towers suck. They shake a rediculous amount to the point you think it's going to rip off the hull.

Better off getting a monster

Monster is a division of XTP that makes OEM towers.
They have some good designs e.g. new OEM racks, and not so good designs e.g. new AR240 towers...

Buyer beware.
