Backup Kill Switch Keys and Lanyards

I dont see how it wouldn't is it not in the same place as mine? If you fell out of your chair and went down in the cockpit, unless you have a very long lanyard, I am not sure how it wouldn't pull out. Whether it is on your wrist or attached to you. I have pulled mine out on my wrist by raising up my arm while standing and waiving at someone.

I have push button start where the keys are in this photo. My key and lanyard are just to the right of the purple mark directly under the throttles and has an up/down orientation when connected. I also have the lanyard hooked to a wrist strap that is then attached to my ankle.. But I would be surprised if I fell there.. that it would come out even on my wrist. I think it has 5ft of cord on the lanyard.
 
In terms of how the FELL system works, it does the following: you can move around the boat at least up to 50 feet without it shutting the engine(s) down (in the open, you would have less range if you had a cabin and etc.), if the FOB is submerged in water more than a couple of inches it activates the system due to signal loss (it is a bluetooth system), if you fall or bump your head you can activate the system by just pressing the FOB and you can wear the FOB on a neck lanyard, clothing clip or wrist band.

As to a corded lanyard being better for a situation where you are not overboard, I think it is a wash of unlikely hypothetical situations. You could easily be disabled by a fall or head bump, and the corded lanyard would not be sufficiently strained to pull off its mount (at least on my FSH 190). I think that the protection the FELL system offers is comparable with the corded lanyard in the cockpit area, and obviously it provides infinitely superior coverage out of the cockpit area (where you cannot use a corded lanyard at all). The FELL system allows for up to 4 simultaneous connections (protects up to 4 people) versus a single corded lanyard.

Also, the FELL system offers the best of both worlds - I installed my system in parallel with the corded lanyard switch (per one choice in the installation instructions). Which means, I can use either or both systems at will.

Since my Ritchie compassed had failed (fluid leaked out) for a second time, I removed the compass, and I installed the FELL in the same hole (an exact fit) - no drilling for me. I will mount a larger compass with a yoke on my JBP dash organizer.

Finally, if the FELL system malfunctions, you can completely deactivate it by unplugging the cable and inserting the by-pass cap. It takes less than a minute. I deactivated mine prior to dropping the boat at the dealer for the annual service.
 
I really don't look at it as a wash of hypothetical situations. For killing the engines, the lanyard works better in my opinion, it handles more what if's of stopping the boat. I have 4000lbs of watercraft moving 40 mph, it may never happen and probably won't, but if it does, either crew could die or the boat could kill others. Again this is based on going down while still on the boat, it covers more situations.

Out of the boat, the FELL wins hands down, especially with adding crew to it. I looked at it last summer but took a knee while I thought about it.

The fact that you installed both to work parallel with both, is fantastic. I didn't see this in the literature or perhaps I missed it. Now that I know that you can do that, It will definitely be on my up and coming mods list, since it will give me the coverage for almost all possible scenario's.

I find it amusing, because I only bought the FELL system to ward off a ticket from an LEO that should be concentrating on the overwhelming sources of boating accidents and death - alcohol and reckless boating.
