Never. Tides go out pretty fast here you could be left with a completely beached boat in less than 30 minutes.Just a question on how many people beach their boats instead anchoring them shallow waters?
Never here too...no tides for us to worry about, but I don't want the hassle of scratches on the hull or sand in the intakes.Just a question on how many people beach their boats instead anchoring them shallow waters?
Nice! This was 3 rookerI did it the first time I took mine to the beach. That was the first and last time. Now I drop anchor and back up to the beach. Also allows us to use the swim deck with it facing the beach.View attachment 148405
This was at Cayo Costa today.
I think I probably will do it at some point just because of what you mentioned for the added protection, even though I really have no intention of intentionally beaching my boat...My boat and waverunners have keel guards. I’m a believer as I beach often, as in half of all outings. It’s an added layer of protection for the part of your boat that cuts through the water, the leading edge, vanguard whether you beach or not. It also comes in different colors so you can accessorize / bling out and armor up the boat at the same time if you want to. A few other things to consider: it’s currently about $20 per foot usually starts at 4 to 5 feet long but have read that they offer smaller pieces now to be used as bow or tie down scuff guards. Also, they honor their lifetime warranty, I know from lots of experience.

Yes, like when my new bilge alarm goes off and I can avoid sinking another boat by beaching it instead.......wait.......still too soonSooner or later you will most likely have to beach at least once for some reason that is unexpected. A keel guard goes a long way.
I had to last year in a pinch, put some scrapes on the keel. To this day it haunts me still. I bought a Keel Guard at the end of the season, sort of, will be putting it on as soon as we get a hot day.
What is your location? If your in rivers or lakes yes, on the ocean with tides I would not. Best practice shut the motor off in 3 feet on water and get out and inspect the beach and pull the boat up by hand. When leaving push the boat out, I normally spin it around and jump on the back when I’m in about 3 feet of water. Also add the keel guard.Just a question on how many people beach their boats instead anchoring them shallow waters?
Are keel guards as simple as this? Or we talking something else?Sooner or later you will most likely have to beach at least once for some reason that is unexpected. A keel guard goes a long way.
