Beaching Jet boat

That’s what we are talking / typing about. @Sotally Tober recently upgraded his boat with an alternative/competing product but I can’t recall the name of it. Keel guards are also sold under the name keel shield.

Wait, you guys have beaches?

Stupid midwest rock/forrest shores. We never beach, and if we get close to shore, use two anchors and land line. Back in, one anchor port, one starboard, and landline to shore (around a large tree or rock nearby) to hold position.

I don’t remember, only that he didn’t use a keel guard and I think his solution was more expansive than a keel guard but also wider and / or longer as well.

Years ago in the other site, I recall that one member damaged his keel. The damage was light but ran along most of the length of his keel. Rather than repair the damage he slapped an extra long keel guard over it. I think it was 13’ long on a 24’ boat.

I went with this one; better price, same result. It's still on sale for the same price I paid in April of 2019!

I did it the first time I took mine to the beach. That was the first and last time. Now I drop anchor and back up to the beach. Also allows us to use the swim deck with it facing the beach.View attachment 148405
This was at Cayo Costa today.
Don't know why you would do it any other way.

Yup. I had the keel line-X'd. It's designed to line the bed of a truck but also makes a good application for the keel of a boat. Rhino linings is also a good option if you can find a shop to do it.

No beaching, we back in with anchor out front and shore spike to the beach.

...Also allows us to use the swim deck with it facing the beach.
This is a huge plus, even if I did want to beach the boat it's so much easier for everyone to get on/off through the swim deck!

That's my MO too.....just bought an anchor buddy for the bow, and a spike anchor for the stern.

The spike anchor is great, it took me a coupe of tries to figure out that it only works well in our NC beach sand if it's fully out of the water. Otherwise the sand moves too much and it eventually pulls out.

Beached mine again last night. Took the 6 dogs to the sandbar and stayed for about 25 minutes. Cut off the engines and drifted till we hit. Easy peasy...

These are great! Very $$$$ as we would need 2 of them.
Indeed... they're so cool, though! I see guys coast in, push a button and jump out of the boat in all of 20 seconds.

I've seen a few people use these--both stern-in or bow-in:

Have you seen anyone with them on a jet boat? I see them a lot on center consoles here in the Keys and admire how easy they make the anchoring process.

@rayg1022 I have a keel guard on our boat and we only beach at one place out here in the keys called Boca Grand. It has a very steep beach so getting stuck isn't really something you need to worry about unless its one of those crazy low tides and you aren't paying attention to push your boat back every 30 minutes or so.
