Guys, looking for a recommendation for a lake to spend a week at six hours or less from Knoxville. Hoping for clear water and a restaurant we can dock at. Also looking for nice scenery around the lake. Anyone care to throw anything out?

Twin lakes in western KY. Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. They are connected through a canal on the north end so you can boat from the KY Lake end in Tennessee to the other end of Barkley for a total distance of 320 miles. Lake Cumberland is nice but very crowded on the weekends.

Norris Lake - there are plenty of restaurants and marinas, a jumping bridge, cliff jumping and rope swings. Only 1-1.5 hours from Knoxville.

Lake James in NC is pretty nice, and under 3 hours. Little further is Lake Norman or Lake Wylie. They're not as nice, but Lake Norman has quite the party scene.

Lake Chatuge is nice and has a good restaurant/bar you can dock at.

Lake Cumberland is only 2-3hrs away depending on what part of the lake you stay
