Primarily for those that use their boats for wakeboarding and tubing but Im curious where you guys are mounting your Gopro's to capture wakeboard and tubing action out back. Wondering if it is worth getting a dedicated mount for the wake tower

No tower on mine, I've got the SX192. I just use the suction cup for the GoPro, and stick it near the tow rope hook. The GoPro has a pretty wide field of view, so everything in the rear gets recorded.

I used one of the small adhesive mounts that came with my GoPro to mount it to the underside of my tower. It works very well, although if the bimini is up it does limit some of the viewing area.

Honestly, after many years of using GoPro on land and in the boat, the recordings from the boat are just too distant. Yup, you capture the action, but it's just too far away to get any detail.

Don't let me poo poo the idea, as I still mount a cam, or put a gimbal in the hands of a spotter whenever possible. I am just disappointed with the lack of zoom. That being said, the stability of a Hero 7 looks amazing and all, and with a gimbal, is awesome for getting surf action, since it is up close.

We have used a number of strap mounts for the tower, and suction cup mounts when nobody is available to hold the gimbal.

This is the one I use on Towers and Roll cages of SXS. It works great.

Recommend shooting in linear FOV if possible. It's better for filming far away subjects. Shot at Max resolution you can that way in post production you can zoom in and pan as needed.

Mine mounts into the black mount that's in the step over area. Would be great for wake boarding, not great for tubing as the jet wash gets in the way.

I got one of these for Christmas with the intention of using it to attach to a tow rope near the rider. It's an incredibly sturdy piece of equipment, but I haven't had the cajones yet to try it for fear of leaving a couple hundred dollars worth of gopro on the river bottom.

I mount mine on the bimini pole, I have an attachment that’s for railing I suppose. Works well. Here’s the angle.

I use this
Roll bar camera mount
After the base is installed you can set up the ram to hang off the side and view forward as well. Allows for many angles

We use this one with the Gooseneck, versatile, strong and easy to hold in hand. It fits the tower tubing on the Yamaha and the bimini tubing on the Beneteau.

Agree with @biffdotorg, tubing/boarding/skiing is almost too far back for action cams. It's nice to have, but just "ok" footage

I found the best location on the tower for closer up stuff (like surfing) is offset from center (either side). If you are using the tower tow point for the rope it'll get in the way more with a center mount camera.
