What is the best config. for wakesurfing behind a 2019 212X?

All ballasts full for example or 100% port side 50% starboard side? Middle 100% Extra ballast on the back or in the front or both.

What are you running that seems to work really well? I am just not getting a good enough push from the wave and am tired of trial an error.

Note: I am running the new wakebooster as well.

Thanks, Scott

What have you tried that isn't working ?
Do you have any extra ballast bags or only stock?
Do you have any sort of wake shaper ?

Most have found a ballast bag on the swimdeck, surfside the biggest key, then more weight in the boat, enough weight to sink the rear corner of the swimdeck then either drive in circles to clean up the wake or get some sort of shaper,

all of that though won't make up for rider ability,

.

just noticed that was your first post, Glad to have you on board, update your profile with your location so we know where you're at, maybe there's a member close that could take you on their boat,

.

Do you put any weight in either of the stock corner ballasts? What speed would you say is good for larger riders - 220ish. ?
My boat doesn't have any stock ballast. Speed is all dependent on your weight, water depth, and ability. Check out my link, has pictures of the progression. I swear I'm not selling anything.

rider weight doesn't determine boat speed,

most people run between 10-11 mph,

you have to sink the back corner of the boat, the more the better,

for a tall wave more rear weight,
for a longer wave more bow weight,

to clean it up drive in a large circle to the surf side or buy a wedge or booster,

then you have board issues, lighter more buoyant is better but reality is rider ability is more important,

.

rider weight doesn't determine boat speed,

So... 220lb dude in 20' of water is going to need more push than a 120lb chick in 20'. The easiest way to play with that is speed. Ballast/displacement will form the wave length and height, but speed determines where that displaced water is giving the most push. When I have teenagers I usually run just 9-10mph to give them the best area. 10-12mph for big adults.

I guess when I'm setting my wave up I'm going for the best wave possible whatever my rider's size is.

I may adjust the wave for their ability level, I may not want to make the largest wave for a beginning 10yr old,

maybe I'm talking semantics and I've confused myself ??....
you said speed determines WHERE the water is giving the most push,
So you think the wave has the same amount of PUSH, speed is just moving it closer or farther from the boat ?

@jcyamaharider - any theoretical input on this ? I wish swatski was around to confuse me even more (he'd include pictures!)

I think of it as a magical equation where ballast, shaper, speed, water depth all blend in to give you your wave, unfortunately it's all trial and error until you find your magic and even when you've found the magic if the rider doesn't have the ability they're still not throwing the rope,

Weight of rider and skill level will determine how I set the surf wave up for certain individuals. Most of the time I try to stay at the same speed just increase or decrease ballast or placement ( move people around ). With heavier riders (300 + ) I will increase ballast and decrease speed so I pump the wave up really big to give them push. With increased speed you will get a longer pocket but you will loose wave height and push. Ballast placement is also a way to increase the wave shape and push. If you run the same speed and have all of the weight to the rear the wave will be tall but close to the boat. Moving ballast to the front will put less stress on the motors, gain pocket length, but loose wave height.

I think we're talking the same things, just different words ?
