Quick question, 2018 SX195 moored at the dock, I have the bilge rocker on and I can hear a humming? No water coming out, and checked all compartments and no water. Is the humming normal? Thanks in advance.

If by humming you mean attempting to pump water my bilge on the same yr and model does the same thing. I have spoken to the company that produces the bilge and they say it is normal. That the bilge may "detect" water and will attempt to pump it out. I have looked down in the bilge area and there is always water just underneath the bilge but not in it, it normally lasts until I back her into the garage and get her level and it stops. The bilges are automatic and this can occur with the switch on or off, mine runs with the rocker off, if that helps. I just make sure I have the battery maintainer on.

I guess the question is does our year/model have the automatic bilge? Seems when it’s turned on, it runs constantly?

not sure what you kind of pump your 2018 is using, but OEM 2012 SX240 would kick start every 5 minutes or so ( not sure about the actual minutes). It will spin for a few seconds and if it will not detect water resistance then it would stop. If water was present ( you know a couple of inches from the bottom of the bilge) then it will continue to run until the water is cleared. Once the water is cleared then it will start the cycle of detection again.

2008s operated similarly. Not sure about newer models.

They changed it in 17 or 18 and didn't correctly update the manual. Flipping the rocker on newer models is a manual override to turn the bilge on to run constantly. That is the constant humming you hear. You don't want to do that. The bilge on newer models is directly wired to the battery and operates when water is detected despite the rocker being off. This means that if you trailer and store you it's going to drain your battery so keep it on a charger. You can test by filing your bilge with a hose and seeing if it kicks on.

Thanks AncientCanoe, my dealership also confirmed what you posted.
