Birthday Gift for my Wife

What about having custom boat towels made up with the boats name on them, and color matched to the boat?

We usually end up bringing those horribley cheap beach towels on the boat, and I’m trying to find something more “spa-quality”.

This is something I’m planning to do this year also.

Ding, Ding, Ding. This sounds like a winner to me! I like that idea as ours just became a MN boat and was named this weekend!

I joked on Instagram and Facebook, that if this boat could talk, it would be bitching about the cold water!

Thank you for the great idea!!!! My mother in law has a couple of those fancy computer controlled embroidery machines too!!

That's a very cool idea! Thank you!

Adlibing a comedian I heard on xm radio, I am pretty sure that most people can tell I’m am married and have been for some time by the look on my face so a ring isn’t necessary. However, my ring is like my watch in that I feel naked without it so my wife got me a second less expensive ring for boating, snow boarding, etc.

Get her a pearl necklace. Always makes a beautiful gift. ;)

Well, the order was made. I got a six pack of 30x70" tan stripped cabana beach towels. I had them shipped to my mother in law for blue embroidery on her fancy machine! These will be great.

We should be able to keep them rolled on the rack in the head compartment ready to go.

Thanks for all the ideas everyone. She will really dig them for sure!

Let me know where you bought the towels and if they’re good quality when you finally get to check them out.

I’ve looked several places for nice, thick, spa-quality towels, but haven’t bought any yet because I want to feel them first (must be heavyweight and soft/absorbent).

I hear ya, I was conflicted over wanting to touch/feel, and being lazy and wanting cheap shipping to my mother in law.

So after shopping in department stores and Amazon, I learned a few things. The towels are measured and rated for plushness/thickness and dimension. Cabana/spa style towels were usually stripped and oversized.

The perfect towels in Yacht blue and Tan striped over white were $39 each!! Holy crappers. Instead, I found a six pack of ton stripe on white that were a little less plush for $45 plus $15 shipping. That was fine that they were not Amazon prime, as I could order them from my personal (non prime) account and hide the purchase from my wife. Of course, towel ads will now start popping up in her facebook browsing! Sheesh.

Here are the expensive ones and the ones I went with. I will report back how they feel and turn out after logo'd.

Got to love your MIL in this situation, my wife embroidered towels with our boat’s name on them a few years ago, nothing special towel wise, whatever she could find at Macy’s and in the favorite color of each regular crew member. I thought the cheap machines were expensive at $2k new then I saw a few high end ones at Joanne’s fabric ($13k + new). Moreover all of them make a lot of noise when operating and the larger the font size the longer it takes to complete.

Ok, so the towels from Amazon were a bust. We must have gotten a bad batch, as they fell apart in the laundry before embroidery. So my Mother In Law, returned them, and we got 8 locally. I think they turned out great.

I so love Birthday Mornings at the lake. I think she loved the towels, and now there is no denying which towels belong on our boat!

That’s too bad about the Amazon towels, you never know with things like that.

The finished product looks great!
Nice work
