Why can't someone develop some kind of thick rubber inflatable ball to put in jet from the clean out port to block water flow instead of having to find the right hose to clamp? If you run on 1 engine. It does have a shaft in the way so you may have to have a split in it or have two half pieces to shove in it left and right or something.

@JetBoatPilot or some plastic rubber engenders it should be doable

Any way just a random thought came to me wile cleaning boat.

You It would be more of a problem than clamping the hose.
As suggested by @swatski in other posts and I fully agree opening the reverse gate of the engine that is not running will lower the internal pump pressure and make it less likely that you would force water into the engine. But not guarantee it. Shutoff valves are the easiest and most reliable way to accomplish turning off the water but you need an obvious reminder at the controls for instance so you remember to turn it back on.
