Boating fail thread

Years ago my daughter was swinging from the wakeboard tower on our Moomba (as though she was a gymnasts) while it was sitting in the driveway and managed to kick the windshield just about off the boat  . Thankfully I was able to slide it back into the tracks and put the screws back in the frame!

Last year using my 175TXW I put the drain plug in the wrong hole, there's like 6 drains and intakes on the ass end of this thing, ran it up on a sandbar to keep from sinking .Ruined a AntiGrav jump pac that was under the seat, why they don't put auto bilge pumps in them is beyond me.

My go to Instagram spot every morning. There are incidents captured on there that still blow my mind to this day!!!!!

I forgot one other fail I did a while ago, accidentally left the swim ladder down while driving around at wot. Amazingly everything was fine though. Noticed it was down when got back to shore.

I did that couple weeks ago, rode 25 miles with it down....i don’t ever use the ladder and no one ever remembers to put it up when they do, I have been tempted to remove it...

Hehe. I did this last Sunday. Me: "Hey, was this down the whole ride back?"

Been there, done that with forgetting drain plug. More than once. A little embarrassing jumping in the water with my clothes on and diving under the boat (far reach) at the ramp. My wife tells me I need to wear my bathing suit. No. I need to remember to put in the plug.

I have seen funny things on the water. Saw a family filled pontoon lose their lunch. The designated chef had his portable grill on the front deck. This cruiser passes and the wake rocks the pontoon tossing the grill into the lake. He stood there in amazement for a second then walked back and had a seat never spilling a drop of his beer.

These two guys were installing a new prop at the ramp. Proud of their mechanical accomplishment they launch the boat and start to back off the trailer when they notice nothing was happening. Hard to believe but they forgot to install the shaft nut. Prop spun into the lake. Those darn propeller guys.

Anchors are the best. At a regatta event I saw the first mate with rope in hand throw out the anchor. With rope still in this hand he noticed the rope was not tied to the anchor. Oops. Or the guy who threw out the anchor and no rope in hand when the anchor and unattached rope go to the bottom.

Need to get to the ATV trailer behind my boat. Decided, "If I watch closely, I should be able to clear the eve of the house with the tower up."

Worked fine on the way out, not on the way back in... flash holder caught the bottom corner of the aluminum flashing peeling it down, which then snagged the bimini cover... dumba**!

Fortunately only the cover tore. Wife repaired it with an iron on canvas patch.

I installed a shelf in the head compartment that will go down as the most expensive storage modification in the history of this website. View attachment 101554

Daammmmmmmmmmmmn.

If the screw is well placed, you could look at adding a portlight to the head. I've thought about it, but that's a big hole for the side of the boat.

OK. Here it is. Biggest dumbass on the forum award nominee and future winner coming right now.

This was Mother's Day last year. Put the shelf in , having no idea I put a hole, or holes, as the case may be, in it. Covered it and didn't notice them since I put the cover on from inside. Couple weeks later I was in the warehouse where I keep it adjusting the amp (thanks to some helpful people on here for that fix). When I get the amp right it starts pouring outside. Figured I would wipe it down since I wasn't going out in that rain and we were leaving for Norris Lake in a couple of days. Had tunes, beer, and life was good. Came to the port side and saw the first hole. WTF??? I don't remember hitting anything. How the? What the? I then move a couple of steps to my left and holy shit, there is another one - two - THREE! WTF!?! After a minute I stepped back and realized that the holes were quite level. Props to me for that at least. Pulled the flashlight out and saw the tips of the screws in the holes. Life no longer good. Thankfully my dad has a friend who owns an autobody shop. He patched the holes so we could enjoy the trip. Looked awesome with 3 big gray patches on the side of the boat, but by then I had no pride left to sting. Didn't want to miss any time on the water so I got the gelcoat done before this season.
