No problems at all with the bow cover, just the cockpit cover.

My local upholstery shop just quoted me a new bow cover and bimini top in Sunbrella patterned from my OEM SX210 pieces for $800. The new Sunbrella biminis run $650 but come with poles. Covers are probably the most expensive/least exciting thing to buy for the boat; but you do get what you pay for. Should I just bite the bullet and support small business America, or is it too steep?

Not bad for both covers. You need to ask yourself if you'll keep the boat long enough for the covers to pay for themselves.

It's high, but how much time would you invest finding someone else? If it was me, I think I'd pay that if it was close to me. I got quoted $600 last year for a Sunbrella bimini alone, and ended up buying an OEM one. And wished I had a Sunbrella one the rest of the year. And the Sunbrella will last longer. The top and side curtains on my Porsche are Sunbrella, and it is just awesome.

Thanks. You are right about the time investment and since my garage is two inches too short for a 242, I am definitely going to stick with her a long time. As expensive as Sunbrella is, I can still buy a lot more biminis before I scratch the surface on the price of new ones. Good for Yamaha (and us); they have come a long way since the early days of our boats.
