Brand New Boat - What to do?

I just purchased a new 2025 Yamaha 222S. Any suggestions on things I should do to it before I take the maiden voyage?

I plan to wax it and also spray engine compartment with Yamashield. (It will only see fresh-water)

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

We just bought a new 2024 252SE and when we go to pick it up we first will go over it very meticulously to look for anything that may need tightened, fixed, replaced, etc before it leaves the dealership. We went to another boat show last Friday, a new 2025 252SE was on the floor and the engine hatch was hard to open, the gas cylinder was bad on it already. So I would say if you haven't picked it up yet, when you do, make sure you open all compartments, run all electronics/lights, and have the dealer give you a demo on it all. Our dealer said they would run it on the hose for us when we picked it up as well.

This is a great point. I won't be picking it up until April but trying to get all my ducks in a row. I will certainly do this on pickup day!

Most important, When starting, key on for a few seconds for the computer to get lined up with all the sensors, pay attention to the Connext screen watching each parameter settle out. Then light her off.
Get big fenders. Bumping the dock is gonna happen, get an extra for the exposed side. Fixing scratches and gouges ain't cheap.

I got the veevee guide vanes for the trailer, I think thats the name. Helps a lot getting the boat on and off the trailer. You might want to make a checklist on your phone for things to do before you drop it in the water, ie, make sure the stern drain plug is in. Check the oil. If you are going to trailer it and use a boat ramp, I'd start the motors at home just to make sure the batteries are good and the motors will start. You can run the engines for a short time without water cooling. I run mine for maybe 10 seconds just to make sure they start. Make sure you have all the USCG required items on board, here's one link, United States Coast Guard | Boating Safety and Sites-WestMarine-Site I'd get a weather radar app, I use myradar which is free but there are others. Helps to keep an eye out for the Tstorms.

Just make sure if you have the dealer run it on the hose that they make it ready for cold weather again if you are in the north. Many freezing days left up here.
