I just bought this Yamalube Yamashield. I was told to spray this in my engine compartment and basically over both engines on my 2025 222S as soon as I pick it up from the dealer. Is this sound advice? Did I pick up the correct product?

Yes.

I think it’s basically just silicone spray, I spray my engine bay and aft bilge after cleaning them a few times a year.

Spray down after you pick up the boat.

Are you in salt or fresh water ?

Fresh water. Obviously this is much more important to do in a salt water environment but I was told it should be done in fresh water as well to be safe.

I agree… fresh water too…

Yamaha recommends you spray all metal parts after each use in salt water. Fresh water you won't have the issue like we do here in Florida.
It's a corrosion prevention coating.
Our service technicians use it on every service that comes through our store.
We sell about 3,000 cans a year.
Great stuff.

We spray the engine compartment before each use. We also spray the moving parts around the buckets. Do not spray the anodes. We boat primarily in fresh water.
