Anyone headed out to Bunces Pass this weekend?

It's right next to Fort de Soto park. It's the inlet right before you get to Egmont Key.

Where do you think you'll go this weekend? We thought about heading north to honeymoon, caladesi, or anclote. Which one is the best out of those?

Many of us prefer the sandbar just north of Anclote. It does get busy there so if you go try to get there earlier than later.

We might try to go to Homosassa

That's almost a 2 hour trip but maybe I'll try on Saturday. Is getting there around 10am too late? Does everyone take the intracoastal all the way up?

Where is Homosassa? Never heard of it. New to the area obviously

I'd say the best ramp would be at Anclote river park. @Drift Away might have better advice as he's local to Tarpon springs.

Getting there at 10:00 you should be ok.

I'll be coming from Tierra Verde High and Dry marina so no need for a ramp. Just a long ride north up the Intracoastal haha

Anclote is a nice ramp. the only downside is you have to pay five or ten dollars to park in the current there is so damn strong it could be a pain getting your boat on and even in light wind. 9 times Outta 10 we end up out of the Sand Bar too cool spot but you have to be there by 10 1030 it fills up quick

Worth it you think? What software program is this?

Worth it, maybe. If you can meet up with new friends , Hell Yeah !
It could be the first step into long range Adventure boating :winkingthumbsup"

That image was from Google EARTH...

I wouldn't drive 43 miles to hang out at a crowded sand bar when there are a lot of other places closer to your home port. If the weather gets snotty that's a long trip back home, plus, if it's 43miles one way you might want to refuel or take extra gas with you. Have you tried Egmont key, Passage key, Shell key, Bean Point at the tip of Anna Maria?

I've been to Egmont but not to any of the others. Out of those 4, which one do you think is the best?

We have only been to Johns Pass and Bunces Pass

CW MARINA.PNG All sand bars are pretty busy on Summer weekends.
I have been to Egmont also, it was nice. I would go back there. But we trailered down to Maximo, which made it closer by water.
As Floyd mentioned there are many other places to hang out... Try them all !

Some of my favorites are Anclote and Three Rooker. Once in a while we will boat down to Clearwater for lunch too.

Your AR240 holds 50 gallons. You MAY or MAY NOT make 90 miles i'm not sure. But you could stop at Clearwater Marina, top off, grab a bite to eat, then continue south to Tierra Verde.
THIS , to me, sounds like a good day boating !

Do you have a Chartplotter ?

I forgot the screen shot...

That does sound like a good day. We may try that on Sunday since the water conditions look to be a little better.

I do have a chartplotter. I have the Garmin Echomap 44dv

You can park here and walk to the beach or to Frenchy's for food and drink...

on the Bottom of the screen shot is the Marina with gas..

CW SLIP.PNG

So its FREE to dock up there?

Yes, but not all those slips are public.
There might be 12 or so public slips.

I imagine they get pretty crowded on Saturday's or Sundays? I would hate to drive up there all that way and not he able to get a spot.

Last time I went, we arrived around noon. I think there were 4 spots taken. ..
