Hello everyone,

I have been reading through the forums for a while, but new member and new jet boat owner.

I purchased a 2000 - Yamaha LS2000 and I am working on the dreaded intermediate bearing change.

I have read through the guide, have the motor forward and the impeller shaft loose in the bearing, and the impeller assembly broken down to the housing that has the impeller bolt and cone in it.

I can not seem to separate this or the impeller housing from the housing connected to the boat with 4 bolts.

Should I just remove the 4 bolts, cut the silicone, and remove the whole thing - or proceed to try to get the impeller housing to let loose?

Any advice would be appreciate. I am mechanically inclined - but this is my first experience with jet power.

Thanks,
Mike.

Here is a pic if someone could take the time to give me a little advice on how to move forward.

Hi @2000c5 I'm not 100% sure what you're asking. It seems like your describing that you're trying to dismantle the impeller from the pump while the housing is still attached to the boat. However, the entire pump and shaft should be pulled/separated from the boat leaving the mounting plate still connected to the hull. This would allow you to then replace the intermediate bearing. Does that sound right @Bruce? I know there's several links to videos somewhere around here that shows how to pull the pump.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Yea, I want to separate the impeller housing from the mounting plate on the boat (ideally) so I can change the intermediate bearing. Problem is that bad boy is basically welded together (metaphorically). I have been working on it for a minute now and it doesn't want to budge.

I am going to read through the links you provided and give it another go today. I had already done some research so I knew this part could be a pain, but this thing just isn't moving. :)

Thanks again. I will post an update.

An update:

I have been PB blasting for days at all points and have tried the "bolt puller" method. So far it does not want to budge. I have not pushed too far on any side or top/bottom with the tool yet - but I have put plenty of pressure behind it where it should budge. Yes I am configuring the tool correctly to pull on the back housing only. I am alternating sides/top-bottom.

I am debating if it is more of the pump housing being seized or is it the impeller shaft in the back of the intermediate housing? (I have the housing separated and the front bearing and housing forward but the back housing does not want to slide forward on the impeller shaft)

If anyone has thoughts or opinions - I'll take them. Otherwise this is just an update - and I will keep messing with it as I have time.

Thanks!
