would this cause my cavitation?
with the gantlin bag on the back center and 400lb under the starboard seat and 1180lb in the ski locker ( only 1/3 to half full ) I couldn't get over 7mph

You need to measure the gap from the impeller to the wear ring . I'm not sure but I read if you can fit a credit card its out of spec also check the ride plates for gaps. Sand in shallow water wears down the wear rings

How many people on board ? start with some bodies in the bow then ask them to move back when at the 10-12 mph speed

you can usually hear and feel the cavitation its slight but different sound and vibration

Intake sealing can help too. But agree w/ @Cambo start w/ putting some people up front until you get out of the hole, then they can move back.

You can also look into the L13 cones as well. Will rob you of top end but will help on the low end.

I sealed and sanded everything on the intakes last year and I also have the L13 cones. Today I changed both of the impellers and both of the guides. We took it out tonight cor some testing before we got booted off the river by lightning. seems to be much, much better. I wasn't able to do a lot of heavy testing because of the lightning but everything went pretty good. my next question is when having some ballast filled and pulling (or not) a surfer it felt like something was off balance. the steering wheel would shake back and forth just a bit until I would get going, maybe 5mph then it would stop and the boat felt like all of a sudden it had full power. almost like something was stuck in the impellers and then was spit out. It happened every time when the boat was weight down. Its hard to explain. I am going to do more testing on Monday

Some members have described the cavitation as “ traction “ this is a good description in your case of loading ballast and trying to get to speed the traction is lost . It’s like driving on something slippery if you gas it the tires will spin you need to bring the power up slowly . I have not had my boat loaded with bodies and ballast to see the point that it creates cavitation or lost traction I have been close . Typically I’m out with families and the wives and kids are in the 100 to 160 lb range so having 8 passengers two dads 175 each, moms and kids averaging 120 is about 1020 lbs . Compared to 8 large adults at 250 each that’s 2,000 lbs if that extra 1000 lbs is not in the right location your boat will struggle. My experience so far surfing the difference from going rope less was asking one person to move on the boat while under way

Yes, I think what you're describing is cavitation.

How are the L13 cones configured? You may try adding another spacer to the cones.

Do you have a wake device (wakebooster or wake wedge)? A number of people on here w/ 24's run the gantlin bag on the back (surf side) and ski locker full (no additional weight) with a wake device without problems.

No chance the jets aren't aligned or the reverse bucket is hanging down into the stream?

I was going to ask if you have all 3 spacers installed on your L13. I only have a single but I notice a big difference in cavitation when I’m loaded down with 1,500lbs of ballast and only using 1 spacer. I generally keep all 3 spacers installed to prevent as much cavitation as possible.

Its not like its slipping. It's more like something is missing or sputtering at first then takes off. the steering wheel shakes when this happens then it smooths out.
