CHAPARRAL SuperCharger Rebuild Rates, Manuals & Gas

Yeah. My problem was with USAA. They look up the value on NADA to base the loan on, and NADA lists them under PWC, not boats. I eventually got them to do it, just took some back and forth. With the Yamaha I'm buying now, I'm surprised it wasn't a problem at all. Again, with USAA. I think the first time I ended up telling her to just go google image a seadoo challenger 180SE, and then try to tell me it was a jet ski.

You know what, I kinda like knowing we ride the Lamborghinies of Jet skies. "sure its a PWC....a $60K one. LOL

I have mine financed through USAA as well. They are incredible. Pretty much say "dude just tell us what your buying, and what you need"

Aside from the little snafu when trying to get the seadoo, they truly have the best customer service I've ever experienced. That's why I went with them again this time with the yammy.

Can we move this thread to "general discussion" ?

I just went through that discussion with my insurance agent yesterday. Their computer system didn't have jet drive as an option so it is listed on insurance now as an inboard, and in the comments section it is noted that it is jet drive.

Yeah this ended up way off topic. I didn't help that much.

We are discussing the request but as a general rule, we all need to help keep threads on topic, rather than move them around.

Ok I will try and bring this back around to the topic at hand. First of all it has been stated why the super charger needs to be rebuilt. I have a 2007 230 se challenger and rebuilt both super chargers at 129 hours. they were both the old washers. Both still looked be in very good shape. was it a waste of money? probably so but it was piece of mind kind of like an insurance policy. Remember these motors are used in the pwc also, and that is where the super chargers get worked over hard. the super chargers are gear driven off the engine. when a pwc comes out of the water from a wave and loses water getting sucked into the jet drive the motor revs very quick from no load on the engine. now when the watercraft re enters the water and a sudden load gets put on the engine and a drop in rpms you have to allow the super charger to slip or it would just twist shafts. That's why these chargers need to be rebuilt the constant load no load wears on the washers. But it really is up to each person on how they drive their boats. I know now that I wont be rebuilding mine again cause how often do you really see your boat coming out of the water like a personal water craft. That's just my take. ( on a side note it cost me around $800 to have them both rebuilt, on my time. If I hadn't and they went down on a weeks vacation at Norris lake it would cost a lot more money plus heart ache from the family.)

According to some pricing received from a dealer, it looks cheaper to replace the old supercharger (460682) by a maintenance free one (461943), than doing the rebuild. Something to look at with your dealer.
