My bimini top finally arrived at Bert's, so I can't put off cleaning up the tower any longer.

I think the previous owner left the bimini up on the freeway. The fabric is destroyed and there are bent poles and scratches on the rear arm.

I picked up some Bar Keepers Friend and it cleaned up the grime but did nothing for the oxidation.

I've read that the tower may be anodized aluminum. I don't see any kind of plastic/clearcoat. Can I just get some 500ish grit sandpaper and polish off the problem areas?

I would try SOS pads in a small unseen area first
