So I am looking for a 19’ Yamaha and am considering a 2017 SX190. It looks pretty good. My only concerns are the water line in engine compartment and amount of corrosion on jet pump. Any advice on this? Pics attached.

Jet Pump can be cleaned. Looks like the water line was up a bit in the engine compartment if I am seeing that correctly? Anode needs replaced. Was this salt water used? What are the hours on it? How does it run? What is the price? Is that sludge and debris under the engine?

Agreed that the anode needs replaced. I will ask about the water line and sludge in engine bay. Never salt water. Only portage freshwater (it’s in Ohio). I haven’t seen it in person since it’s 5 hrs away. Price is 25k.

Oh and hours are 184.

Agreed pump could be taken apart and cleaned. Have to see how it runs. Could ask for compression numbers.

I would be concerned about water inside engine compartment. Could be if boat sank or took on water. The excess water will seep into ski locker if not completely drained but tilting trailer all the way up is only way to completely drain water from spaces in hull bottom..

Would you be second owner?
If you were closer I had a 2014 you could of considered :) shameless plug

With the anode in that bad of condition and the condition of the pump plus the boat was used in fresh water as well as the water line in the hull it is very obvious that this boat was kept in a wet slip . That may not be a bad thing but it can have some bad side effects.

Personally, I don't like boats that are wet slipped and the owner seems to ignore them.

Don't know anything about this boat either, but I see on Boattrader that Sizzle Marine, in Columbus, has a SX190, with 45 hours, listed at 30K. If you are interested in a pre-2019 model, this seems like a much cleaner boat.

I know the boat market is crazy, but I paid 29k for brand new 2019 SX190 from Sizzle Marine. Everybody has money, but there are no toys to buy.
Sizzle is reasonable to work with. Fortunately, my boat hasn't been back to see them since the purchase.

With regards to the boat pictured. I made the mistake of wet slipping a waverunner in Ohio and not taking great care of it. My cooling lines clogged and caused some issues.

When you say portage, I assume you mean Portage Lakes? I have seen this boat many times on Portage. Seems to run well as we were making laps together around the "speed" zone. There are only two speed zones on Portage during restricted hours, the rest of the lake is no wake. I have never talk to the owner, but gave a big ole "howdy fellow Yamaha jetboater" wave many times.

It is wet slipped (if it is the same boat), but not run hard. I would guess most of the hours below 2500 rpm. Again, the lake no wake except speed zones during restricted hours.

I have the same boat (blue trim) and year. This one was stored in the water at one time. That pump looks as bad as rental PWCs kept in the water. The tell-tale water line in the engine compartment is something to dig into. Surprised that the seller didnt work really hard to remove it. Water sat in there and because the bilge pump is manual it never came on. How did the water get in there in the first place. Hard to say but it could just be incremental from the two rear drain plugs, which if they are not tight all the way will leak drip by drip into the bilge. But all this superficial.

Start it up.
Does it go into a smooth idle after a second or two.
Any codes light up on the the Tach.
Pull up the center floor to expose the gas tank compartment - any water in there (mine had a leak from the center ski locker into it when it was new). Check the holds port and starboard at the stern, take off the pad and step into them, do they sag?
Crawl underneath and shine a light into the pump cavity and even video it so you can see the prop.
Pull off the Starboard Bow back pad (two wing nuts up inside) and get a peek at the dash from inside.
Turn the steering wheel. Butter smooth or like turning a ratchet. Rachet = Minor trouble all the way up to replacement of the whole cable.
Check all the dash switches and make sure the white running light is stowed in the ski locker.

Lastly take it for a test ride. The proof is there.

If all good - ask what's the lowest price they'll take.

I love mine. Good Luck.

Awesome input from everyone, thanks! So I found another one that they are willing to go to 25k as well. This one is a 2016 at 190. It looks probably cleaner and trailer stored. The biggest concern with this one is use in brackish water primarily. The boat is clean except corrosion on the jet pump. Here are pics… thoughts?

The image on the right shows something in the lower right quadrant deep in the stator veins...is that a leaf or debris or is it the prop?

This boat also has to have been stored in the water for that much build up.
