What are y’all using for ballast? Looking for cheap ways to make a good surfing wave.

Buy some pumps and bags from wake makers especially the rear swim deck bag it will be about $1,500.00 to $3,000.00 depending on the set up this is cheap in relation to buying a used wakeboard boat for 80k to 100K

I own a 2019 212X and poorly surfed behind the boat for 3 years. This summer I finally purchased a 725# ballast bag for the transom ($450 from Hodges Marine) along with a Tsunami pump from Bart's Water Sports for maybe $225. Inventory is the issue so it took me a while to piece these components together because they were not available at Wake Life or Wakemakers. I'm 200# and can now surf on a shorter board (52" to 54") with only 1 to 2 people in the boat which would have been impossible last year. I also use the Wake Boost so it's not only the ballast but the above was pretty inexpensive.

What year boat and length you are trying to set up ? Definitely talk to Jerry @jcyamaharider with Gantlin Products. He has helped so many people get their yamaha boats set up for surfing. Either message him on the board or his contact info is on his website.

You want real low budget?

Get some rubbermaid roughneck storage bins. Fill with water and place on swim deck. I can usually fill them half way from the lake an lift them up then fill the rest with a bucket. Three or four bins makes a noticeable difference.

Our friend Mark did that with his yamaha about 11 years ago. They started with tubs and moved on to ballast bags. Then he hooked us on surfing and the rest was history. Gantlin Products got started not long after. Just a couple of guys with dreams of making a better wave. Can't believe it's been that long already.
