I will start off by saying I have never used a kill switch even though I am a believer in the old saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of the cure". I will begin today using it after reading the last post in my quest for finding a new life vest.

Be safe out their [flag]

I generally don’t use it in normal situations, but if things get a bit rough or wild, I make sure to strap up. Usually to my wrist.

I tried using it a few times and by pulling it at the wrong time I caused a few close calls. That was enough for me. It's a "Pull to Shut Off Engines" string now, not attached to anyone.

I keep it attached to my life jacket and make a habit of wearing it anytime as the captain while the boat is moving. Nobody plans to have a disaster. Around your wrist it can slip off as you’re being ejected.

Everyone should always, but in reality I don't.

The exception is, I do, if I'm the only person in the boat that could meaningfully deal with an emergency or safely operate the boat - ie I'm alone, I'm alone with kids, etc.

Used never use it, but an experience, that thankfully turned out ok, turned into an easy lesson to make me up my usage of the kill lanyard to at least this level.

This product has peaked my interest on this topic. Just can't decide if I'd actually put that on all the time either or not. For the price and install you'd want to be sure you'd actually use it. Definitely more convenient for moving around the boat.

It's a slick product and seems much more usable!

I wear it if boating solo or if the water is rough enough to warrant donning a PFD.

I use it to quickly turn off both engines. I attached a braided rope loop to it. There only time i ever attach it to me is when there is a chance of me falling off, like in a jet ski, or a dinghy when jumping waves.

It reminds you to put it on, by not allowing the engines to start without pressing the wristband switch or at least the override switch. The likely hood of the wrist band coming off is pretty low as it is fairly well strapped to your wrist, almost a pain to put on.

I use a Fell Man Over Board switch. I was out fishing with my dog, she decided I needed to go for a swim. After that, I got the MOB.
