Hey guys. I have an 04 sx230. I ran up on a dock and put about a 3 inch long scratch that's is fairly deep. I can see the fiberglass under it. The scratch is about a half inch wide. It is on the bow below the rub rail but above the water line.

Is this something that needs to be repaired before I take it out anymore or could it wait for winter? Also, any tips on maybe fixing it myself? Thanks.

At the least you should seal the raw fiberglass with sealer or epoxy to prevent water from getting behing the gel coat. You should be fine waiting till winter to repair it. Look in the members tips and ideas section for help on doing the repair.

Wait until winter. Toss a piece of duct tape over it or a Jetboaters.net sticker to keep the water out until you are ready to repair. Be careful around those docks!

Also, WELCOME ABOARD!!! be sure to introduce yourself in the welcome aboard section.

Ok thanks for the help. I'll tape over it for now and fix in the winter.
