Dyeing a bimini canvas?

Anyone dyed their bimini canvas? I think mine would look much better in black (and it would hide the mold;))...
I understand that synthetics may not take dyes like RIT dye very well...and there are spray can dyes for canvas...

Any experience out there?
 
I'd start with the Bimini boot before going all in on the top itself.
 
I was actually thinking of doing the same thing for my VeVe guidepost covers. Although they are already black, they have faded quite a bit over the years.

I bought new black canvas covers for my faded and ripped VeVe guidepost covers. I think I got them on Ebay.
 
My factory bimini top was made out of a synthetic fabric so if I were to dye it I would use iDye Poly, http://www.jacquardproducts.com/idye.html . I haven't actually used this product but it would be the one I would try if I wanted to dye synthetic fabrics.
